Annual Tactical Review

It’s like Enrollment CSI, except that college operations emerge from this “post-mortem exam” alive and well, and more crisply focused than ever.

The Annual Tactical Review is a two-day exercise in which a team of Hardwick-Day principals work on campus to debrief and evaluate all enrollment tactics used in the previous year. Hardwick-Day principals and a campus team thoroughly consider and evaluate each tactic for effectiveness and cost. They decide whether to continue each tactic, to tweak it and how, or to “deep six” something.

The firm also asks, “What is missing?” In total, Hardwick-Day principals have worked with over a hundred private colleges (and a few public ones), so they've seen it all. They bring a series of different skill sets and perspectives to the exercise, which broadens and deepens the evaluation. The team approach adds up to more than the sum of what each principal could offer individually (which is not inconsiderable).
