Director of Financial Aid

Hofstra University is a comprehensive university with 12,700 students located on a beautiful campus on Long Island, 25 miles east of New York City.

The Director of Financial Aid is a full-time administrative position reporting to the Dean of Admission and Financial Aid. Responsibilities include serving as the university’s chief financial aid compliance officer in a program that has a student-centered philosophy emphasizing the strategic distribution of aid to the largest number of students with the goal of enhancing enrollment and the student academic profile.

The director oversees financial aid programs including procedures. He/she acts as the university’s authority on federal and state financial aid requirements. In addition to supervising a staff of about 25, the director is responsible for the integration of automated systems that support the awarding and distribution of financial aid funds in compliance with government regulations.

Requirements for the position are a bachelor’s degree with an advanced degree preferred. The candidate should have a minimum of five years of financial aid experience at the director or associate director level.

He/she should have a strong management background and good communication skills. It is important that the candidate have a commitment to excellence in customer service. Exceptional computer expertise, proficiency in Office XP and experience with SCT Banner is desired.
